Here are five tips to Sweet Pea success!

• Pick a sunny, well-drained site—change site every two years to avoid blight
  
• Dig the hole or trench 18”deep—sweet peas are deep-rooted
  
• Fill the trench with 6” of compost, then soil, with seeds in the top 2”—sweet peas are heavy feeders.We plant ours about 3 incines apart.
  
• When they are about 8 inches tall, pinch the top inch off. This will encourage branching, and even more sweet peas.
• As they grow, help the vines out by tying them off to what ever they are climbing on with twist ties. Don't grip the vine too tightly!
• Keep picking those lovely, fragrant flowers so they don’t go to seed—seeds cue the plants to stop flowering
  
• When watering, keep water off the foliage
